About
— My story

A travel agent turned holiday comparison obsessive, working out which trips are actually worth the money — anywhere in the world.

I’ve spent the better part of 15 (15.5 to be exact ) years booking other people’s holidays — first behind a desk at a high-street agency in London, then independently, and now mostly from a laptop with too many browser tabs open – generally sitting with a coffee in hand. ( Note to self – ease off on the espressos.. )

What kept me in the job wasn’t the destinations. It was the moment a family came in with a rough idea and a fixed budget, and I could tell them the thing they didn’t know: that the resort they’d set their heart on was a two-hour transfer from the airport, or that the same room cost a third less if they shifted their dates by four days, or that the “all-inclusive” they were about to book charged extra for anything worth drinking.

That gap — between what a booking site shows you and what you actually need to know — is why I started writing.

These days I spend most of my time comparing. The same hotel across six booking platforms. The same fortnight in high season at four different price points. Resorts in Mexico, apartments in Lisbon, safari lodges, cruise cabins, and the kind of long-haul package that looks unbeatable until you read what the flight times actually are. I check the small print, the transfer times, the what’s-included-and-what-isn’t, and the reviews that don’t make it onto the front page. Then I write it up plainly, so you can make the call in ten minutes instead of ten evenings.

I’m not going to pretend every holiday is magical. Some resorts are tired. Some deals aren’t deals. I’ll say so — and so will the people who’ve actually been, which is the part of this site I like most.

If something here saves you a bad fortnight away — or just saves you a few hundred on a good one — that’s the job done.

How I work: Prices are checked across multiple booking platforms before anything gets recommended, and rechecked when they move. Where a link earns a commission, it’s marked — it never changes what makes the list.
